Hello! My name is Marisa Farnell. I have just completed my degree in Secondary Education with a focus in Language Arts from the University of South Alabama. Many people have asked me why I decided I wanted to teach crazy middle and high school students instead of the sweet and precious elementary students. My answer is always the same: I have a passion for this age group. It is during this time in their lives when they start to discover who they are as individuals, and it is so important that they have a positive influence in their lives to help guide them through these difficult years. In addition, I also have a passion for Language Arts and all that it encompasses, and I find it less common that students today have that same passion. Language Arts is vital because it helps students understand not only how to read and write effectively, but also how to understand complex concepts found within literature and poetry.  I want them to leave with an appreciation for what Language Arts does in their lives.
